No.
The default config location for user-compiled versions of the software
will typically be /usr/local/etc  (unless an alternative location is specified
when running configure)

The default config location for vendor-supplied versions of the software
will often be /etc

But it's related to how the software was configured/compiled,
not the version of the package that you are using.

The simplest approach is to take a copy of the vendor-supplied startup
file  (/etc/init.d/snmpd) before you delete this package, tweak this to
match the user-compiled locations, and then put this amended version
back into /etc/init.d once you've installed the user-compiled package.

We do not attempt to provide a project-supplied version of the startup
script, as different OS distributions can handle this quite differently.
(In fact, there is an example Fedsora/RedHat-based startup script in
the source tree, under 'local' I believe - but this won't necessarily work
on Ubuntu or other Linux distributions.   And if you're using *BSD, Solaris,
HP-UX or something else, then it will be different again)
