RE: OT (to the max) easy eays of doing Cisco router inventory ?

I'm fairly sure that you can get most of this using SNMP, but if it is truly a small number of routers, why not just telnet to them and do a 'show version'. Either way, most of the time the Serial number reported will be that of the Mainboard, not the chassis. Unless someone has already set the 'snmp-server chassisID' variable in the config. If this has not been set, there is only one way that I have found to get the chassis serial number. Read it from the sticker on the back of the router. :-(
If anyone knows otherwise, I'd be really interested in hearing a solution.
