for the SNMP-way you have some GNU and commercial tools to use:

	GNU: 
		SNMP Browser (for KDE)
		gSNMP
		gxsnmp

	for further references, do a search on sourceforge.net, for example

	Commercial:
		SolarWinds (http://www.solarwinds.net/)
