I use the follwing line in hosts.cfg

# ITVDB1
service[ITVDB1]=Host
Status;0;24x7;3;1;1;db-admins;120;24x7;1;1;0;;check_ping
service[ITVDB1]=TNS Oracle
Ping;0;24x7;3;1;1;db-admins;120;24x7;1;1;0;;"$USER1$/check_oracle --tns
itvdb1.austar.com.au"

Make sure u check commands config as well.
