Hi Darrin Sir,
If you have configured ur machine as a MTA, pls check the configs. It will do if u just configure it as a free relaying server. ( I am assuming you are aware of the MTA stuff, if not, I am afraid this may help you and also it may confuse you)
If after doing this, you think that the mails are not to be seen in the mailbox, pls check whether your box has a valid host entry and also check whether the mail server you are relaying mails to is a FREE RELAY server. If not, the NetSaint alerts may not be forwarded by the mailing server.

Warm Regds,

Hi again,

MTA stands for "Mail Transfer Agent" and some popular examples could be
Sendmail, Postfix, Qmail, Exim, etc. This link explains a lot of things you
should know about: http://www.sendmail.org/email-explained.html

I personally do prefer Postfix (after _a lot_ of years fighting against
sendmail ;-) ) but feel free to install & setup the one you like most.

Email aliases allow you, among other things, to redirect all the incoming
email for a certain user to another one.
For example: if you create an alias "netsaint: [email protected]",
whenever an email for the user netsaint is received, it will be
automatically sent to [email protected].
Aliases allow you to specify more than one recipient, so you could add an
entry like:

netsaint: root, [email protected], [email protected]

Everytime you edit the email aliases file as root, usually /etc/aliases, you
must issue a 'newaliases' command (without the quotes) to rebuild the
aliases database.

HTH,

Martin

Sorry to act dumb, but I am very new to linux OS and Netsaint, it was
dropped in my lap to fix.

What would a MTA be and where do I find it?

Sincerely,

Darrin Owen
