Thank you Ingo, I appreciate your feedback.

I think the "leap of faith" I had to make was to set the Internal and External 
interfaces to the same string ( br0 - our bridge device ). I would be 
interested to see what changes you made to the firewall script as things seem 
to be happening now - dare I say seem to be working?

I am now trying to set up the Auth service and am having problems when I 
splice the "Include" line into our webserver's config file. It doesn't 
understand the "SetEnv" commands in the included file!

I expect this is a pretty basic problem that's too obvious to explain but if 
you or anyone else can give me my next clue I would be really grateful.
