I am in a search callback that gets op and rs, I do this:
Operation op2 = *op;
SlapReply rs2 = { REP_RESULT };
cb.sc_response = supann_update_done_cb;
cb.sc_private = NULL;
op2.o_callback = &cb;
op2.o_dn = op->o_bd->be_rootdn;
op2.o_ndn = op->o_bd->be_rootndn;
op2.o_protocol = LDAP_VERSION3;
op2.o_tag = LDAP_REQ_MODIFY;
op2.o_time = slap_get_time();
op2.o_req_dn = rs->sr_entry->e_name;
op2.o_req_ndn = rs->sr_entry->e_name;
op2.o_bd = select_backend(&op2.o_req_ndn, 1);
/* populate op2.orm_modlis */
rc = op2.o_bd->be_modify(&op2, &rs2);
