This Week in OpenNMS - Season 1.8, Episode 17: Psssst... yeah, you... want some OpenNMS training?

It’s time for This Week in OpenNMS. But first, two quick items of business.

1. We’re pleased to let you know that Ronny Trommer’s “OpenNMS Kickstart” slides from OSMC 2010 are now available on Slideshare.

2. We’ll likely be offering one full week of OpenNMS training before the end of the year in the US (likely in the Midwest) and in Europe (scouting locations now.)   Get in touch with us if you’d like to attend either session; details soon.

Project Updates

1.8: Current Release is 1.8.5 (Plover)
1.8.5 is the current stable release, tagged 13 October 2010. For a complete list of changes and updates, see the “New and Noteworthy” page on the OpenNMS wiki. As always, it is recommended that you back up your database before upgrading.
Our bug-hunting frolic through linkd is complete, and we’ve resolved a number of open bugs related to SNMP data collection.
Bugs Fixed Since Last TWiO

#4155 – Fixed an installer error message when the now-deprecated “-c” tag is used
#4173 – Added a few more Cisco Catalyst SysObjectIDs to default linkd config
#4174 – Workaround for a bug in NetSNMP agent v 5.5
#4177 – Added events for Compuware ServerVantage traps
#4181 – Fixed a filehandle problem in WMI data collection
Upcoming Events

We’re going to be scheduling at least one training week in the US (likely in the Midwest) and one in Europe before the end of 2010.  If you’d be interested in attending a training course, drop us a line and let us know.
The City of Portland (Oregon) is presenting at GOSCON 2010 about their experiences using OpenNMS.  Tarus Balog will be there – be sure to say hi!
