I like <canvas> too, but there are two things about it that irk me: 1. Possible patent encumberment -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canvas_(HTML_element)#Intellectual_property_over_canvas 2. Lack of support for rendering text I've seen a clever workaround for (2) that pre-renders a font into a big PNG image, shoves the bits of that PNG file into a Javascript array, and then takes slices out of the big image and plops them onto the canvas. (1) worries me, though. - -jeff -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.8 (Darwin) iEYEARECAAYFAke9qEsACgkQB3953+hexDpcSACePlOYXbU6wRj1wn8H5pRyM6UB qiMAoI2/nkR6Fg9Ku6BZwD5uWDv+Dk2N =cnGX -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
