Re: OpenNMS and Java in light of Oracles recent announcement

When I installed OpenNMS on my Linux boxes, it installed the Oracle JDK package from the opennms repository.  Is that because I did not already have OpenJDK installed?

I'd be happy to move to the OpenJDK once it is proven stable and "officially" supported by the OpenNMS team.


I can move my sandpit OpenNMS server to OpenJDK and start testing.  Then if I run into any problems, just raise an issue about it?

If your running OpenNMS on a Linux box normally it uses OpenJDK which has a difference license and support length.

I don't know what the support length of OpenJDK on Ubuntu/Debian is, but RHEL is longer than the Oracle support term.
