You're thinking of capsd and caps-configuration.xml, which has been gone
since..  v16? Earlier?

collectd-configuration.xml is the data collection configuration.  If it's
that heavily modified, why reconcile it at all?  Delete the updated file,
leave your copy, and move on.  I'm not aware of any breaking changes WRT
collectd-configuration.xml format for a long while.
