Well, I followed the instructions given at http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Installation:Debian That process implements a requirement for postgreSQL 8.3, which gets installed and then upgraded to 8.4. It also requires iplike 8.3 and tries to apply it to the DB, which fails because of a version mismatch. I find no instructions on how to suppress the requirement for iplike.
