  Thanks for the reply - I really appreciate it. I've added your suggestion,
but the service still fails with the same error. :(

  In the meantime, I had built another VM running Fedora Core 13 and
immediately RPM-installed OpenNMS from the stable repository. It fired up
flawlessly... so I honestly think I might stick with that going forward and
let this box (also a VM) just handle the irritating Hitachi SAN management
software all by itself. :)

  I'll keep this installation on here and am happy to tweak it if any of the
feedback is in some way useful.
