I'm not sure if we have a document, but it is pretty easy.

1) set up postgresql on 192.168.1.2 (preferably 8.4). Make sure that pg_hab.conf allows access from 192.168.1.1, that postgresql.conf is listening on all interfaces, and not just localhost, and that there are no firewall rules block access to port 5432 from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2.

2) Edit opennms-datasources.xml and change localhost to 192.168.1.2

3) Run $OPENNMS_HOME/bin/install -dis and if everything is okay it should create the database on the remote server. If not, play with step 1 until it works.

4) you may want to install the iplike package on the database server.
