Opennms takes HOURS to start

Running Opennms 1.8.15 on Centos 5.7 x64 and it appears that Opennms takes
hours to start, with the controller.log file being flooded with the
following repeatedly:

file from
jar:file:/opt/opennms/lib/opennms-services-1.8.15.jar!/castor.properties

The jar file in question does exist and has the same perms as all the rest
of the jar files. I'm not really sure what else to look for that might be
causing this. Anyone able to help here?
