Dan, Thanks very much for your reply. I deleted one of the nodes I was testing and OpenNMS rediscovered it, but it still isn't displaying the correct name in the node list, just an IP address. DNS is set correctly. Is there anything else I should check is configured correctly so the name is displayed rather than the IP address? Thanks. Someone please correct me if I am wrong! In the past I have had to delete the node and then add it back in for the node label to be assigned via DNS. If you have automatic detection configured then you just have to delete the nodes and let ONMS find them again. I read that node labels are defined by DNS (we don't have any that are user defined) and so I had a couple of missing ones added to the reverse lookup zones as a test, but they're still showing in OpenNMS as IP addresses. I've tried doing a manual rescan but the names don't change. SNMP Attributes shows the correct name. I don't want to user-define the names. There are too many nodes and it's too hard to manage. What am I missing here? Thanks for your help. I searched the archives but couldn't find what I needed.
