nas down, hanging radius users

Hi,

I have a poptop PPTP server using a FreeRADIUS server thats using MySQL.

When the PPTP server goes down (server crash or network outage) then the
FreeRADIUS still thinks they're logged in as it never receives a STOP message.
Since I have muliple-logins not allowed, the users can not login again :-(
Right now I have to manually go into the MySQL DB and basically delete the
entries that have 'acctsessiontime=0' in the radacct table, in order for the
users to be able to login again.

So am I the first having this problem (hardly!) and what can be done about it?
The FreeRADIUS people seem to mostly say 'It's the NAS's fault!' so no dice
there. I need a small utility/script to send the STOP packet to RADIUS or
another packet that will clear up that session or some sort of reset-button.

Anybody? (this is urgent by the way, thanks!)

Regards,
Tobias

The modern datacenter depends on network connectivity to access resources
and provide services. The best practices for maximizing a physical server's
connectivity to a physical network are well understood - see how these
rules translate into the virtual world?
