Thanks, will spend the night for tests and upload to Debian.

However, I found the 1.4.0 release tar ball and the git at tag v1.4.0
differ, several files are missing in the first one. I doubt any harm
was done, so it's mostly curiosity:

By the way, the entire debian/ is horribly outdated. In my opinion it
should be just removed.
