PPTP in Linux kernel is enabled with CONFIG_PPTP at configuration
time, and requires a modified pptpd, which hasn't been pushed upstream
here.

I'm not confident that it will change your experience, as the protocol
itself has some underlying performance problems.  There are much
better VPN protocols.
