this is not wrong if you want to connect to a modern terminal services
environment, like a load balanced connection broker or TS farm or a server
restricted with NLA, both heavily used technologies and part of the rdp
standard for years. If that is the case, and it is for a large percentage of
users i would guess, rdesktop simply is not on option unless you can find
patched support for those technologies.

but little to no code improving and/or simply keeping rdesktop up with the

peter, come on. rdesktop got left behind because of it's insular developer
community.
