french keymaps and circumflex accented characters

I am just wondering whether any of you had any problem with French keymaps.
I am not able to type in the circumflex characters. In a french keyboard=2C=
you have to press the ^ followed by e=2C a=2C u=2C o or i...
It does not seem to work for me with rdesktop.
