Thank you for the suggestion.  I had not tried it, so I just did.
Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem.

I noticed now that if I run rdesktop from an X terminal window and watch
the terminal output, right when I hit AltGr in the session I get error
output in the starting terminal:

WARNING: No translation for (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol)

I guess it could be that Gentoo and Ubuntu ship with different keymaps.
I guess I'll need to study up on keymaps!  I've never looked into them
before (didn't have to with the Gentoo setup working so perfectly.)  If
anybody has a quick tip for me to save me study time, would be great.
