It's not supported, basically, as I said earlier. Nobody has developed the
session broker code for Win Server 2008, and until somebody writes it, it
ain't there. You can use the -4/-5 options to drop back RDP protocol
support, and as long as the server is configured to allow legacy clients
(via group policy) they will connect, but without session broker.

There is session directory support for Windows Server 2003, although I'm not
entirely sure anybody uses it in production.

David:

Thank you for the reply and I would like to congratulate your team on a
wonderful product! It has worked great for us over the years with Windows
2000 and 2003 and I expected some growing pains with Windows 2008. Let me
explain my situation and what my ultimate goal is:

I have setup 3 Windows 2008 Terminal Servers all identically configured
except for their hostname and IP addresses. I'm planning on using NLB on
them but for now I'm using RR DNS. I've also configured Session Broker on
them so that if they are disconnected at one of our 16 remote sites they
will be able to reconnect to their session and I can have a bit of load
balancing. This is a great new feature provided free within Windows 2008
and works great for XP / Vista clients.

However, I'm having trouble getting the Neoware devices to even login
successfully to one of the servers with or without Session Broker turned on.
It really seems like a RDP problem to me and I'm experiencing double logins,
errors on login (rdesktop exits with an error), and so on. I have the
following forums going so you gather more information. I'm willing to work
with you all day everyday to get this working so don't hesitate to ask
questions!

Joshua,

Can I get a little more information about what you are trying to
accomplish along with what version of NeoLinux you are using (and any
snapins)? This is not official support, but as an ex-Neoware now HP
engineer who worked on NeoLinux I am interested.

Thanks,

David Bryant

Honestly though, I think the ultimate root of the problem is with Neoware
(HP). It is using NeoLinux but we don't have access or the want to upgrade
them manually with custom patches. So, I'm going to have to get them to do
that. However, I have one more question for you specifically and that is..
do your 2008 Server connections work properly with the new Session Broker?
That is, have you test this capability?

Hi Joshua,

As Matt Seitz stated, I have it working on Windows Vista Business ( also
SP1 ) and on Windows Server 2008 RC1.

What do you need to know ?...

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm working with Neoware (HP) to get this
fixed but ran into some support issues (error on their side). I'll be sure
to provide them with this information so they can use these types of patches
if necessary in their next release. Does anyone else have any experience
with using Windows 2008 Terminal Services with rdesktop and getting it to
work? Thanks again all!
