control key not working

I'm having various keyboard problems using rdesktop, the main one being that the control key doesn't work on the server. I'm logging on to Windows (Server 2003 R2) from Ubuntu Hardy using rdesktop 1.5.0. ctrl-c, ctrl-v and all special key combinations that I've tried don't work on the server. I'm trying to copy/paste from one app to another on the server (both apps running on the same server). II can copy/paste by right clicking using the context menu. What should my next trouble shooting steps be? Thanks for any ideas.
