strange audio problems

I'm having a problem that I can't seem to find the cause of but it all seems to point to rdesktop at this point and I'm hoping someone has some insight. First of all, I leave the audio to play through my remote computer which is what makes all of this even more confusing. If I connect to my remote desktop computer with RDP(XP SP2 Pro) using a Windows machine, I have no problems with the remote system at all. If I connect to the remote desktop using rdesktop however I get odd pauses and hangups when playing music(Winamp). Again, this isn't like the audio is streaming over the network, it's playing through the remote computer. I tried another music player just to see if Winamp was the problem and I got the same pauses so I'm pretty sure it's something directly to do with the audio system and rdesktop at this point. Are there any settings I should be looking at? I suspect my wireless connection isn't operating at full capacity in Linux and I've done my best to reduce the bandwidth usage in case that's the cause but it doesn't seem to have done anything. Any ideas? I want to make sure it's not my fault before I report this as an actual bug.
