I don't see why one wouldn't use it in production - unless I'm missing something here.

I'm using it in one of our undergrad labs:  40 sun ray thin client terminals supported by a Sun server running Solaris 10.  There's a host of opensource software running on this server.

I have a Windows Terminal Server 2008 also deployed within the subnet supporting the thin clients, with various not-so-opensource applications installed on it.  

Students can log on the WTS by launching rdesktop to gain access to applications supported on Windows.  I've only got this to work with the "-4" option so far but I've been told it is possible to connect to a 2008 server with the latest protocol as well.

They can store their work on network shares that they can browse on either windows/solaris sessions.  

Just as an FYI: both servers are part of our campus AD domain and we use a Kerberos authentication layer so user/account management is lot less of a hassle.

I'm pretty sure I could rig my users' login sessions such that they would log right into windows using rdesktop - but I haven't been this bold yet =).

Hi all,

Just a quick question.

Is there anyone that's using rdesktop in a production environment ?

I'm sure there are many it managers that use a linux machine to
administer windows servers thanks to rdesktop, but i'd love to know if
it's even used to provide a windows environment to operators.
