I had the same problem (cursor colour was inverted), I attributed it to
rdesktop at the time as it only happened when using rdesktop, however it
turned out to be a problem with the graphics driver on the client
machines (VIA Unichrome).

I fixed it by setting the SWCursor option in the xorg.conf to true, and
that seemed to work perfectly (Thanks to Chris Roberts for that solution).

Not sure if that will help, but keep in mind that it may be due to the
display driver.
