Yeah, we have 500 or so users across multiple remote sites using
rdesktop - it's stable.  I seem to recall there was a bug with rdesktop
and the latest versions of Xorg - a few Ubuntu users here (on the list)
were complaining about it.  Could be that.

No, we find it is pretty bulletproof here - we have 50 users using it
pretty 
much full time - and I've been using rdesktop fairly regularly for years
and 
have not come across such a problem.

Could there be a problem with your network, I would imagine packet loss
could 
be causing this?  Maybe set a ping going and have a look at it when it
hangs 
the session?
