There is very little to work on here, just permissions on the shares
directory, the samba version and that it domain joined, the only other
piece of information is that it works from the command line, but not
via Samba, which is strange because ultimately the save is carried out
as a local Unix user.

Can you please post the output of 'testparm -s'.
