Hey Paul, In Gaim v1.1.4 on windows I'll give you my understanding of their meaning, but remember I might be wrong. The options I see are: 'Public key authentication' - this requires that the client provide the server its public key when connecting. A silc server can also authenticate a use using a passphrase. This passphrase is defined on the server, which can give you more control of who can connect, but also requires that the server admin manage those client profiles on the server. Even when using a passphrase (Developer note: it would be cool if the client could store this passphrase) it is my understanding that public keys are still exchanged. 'Reject watching by others users' - I've never used this, but I'm guessing this tells the server that you don't want other users that have you in their 'buddy list' to be notified when you join a network. 'Block invites' - Again, never used it, but guessing that it tells the server that you don't want it to send you invitations to join chats. 'Block IMs without Key Exchange' - I think this prevents messages from being received unless the sending client is able to send you their public key. As I understand it, messages can be received from other clients proxyed by the server, in which case the server could modify the contents of the message. Requiring that the sending client perform a key exchange, would allow the two clients to verify the authenticity of messages they receive, basically saying that you don't really trust the server you are connected to. This option would appear to enforce the case where messages from other clients can be verified. I could be totally wrong on this though... 'Reject online status..' - Again, another setting to prevent the server from allowing others to check your clients state, like if you are set away and thing of that nature. I think that's about it. Others that I missed?
