C-u doesn't work in beta w/ slang2; slang errors garble display

Collecting minor issues for posteriority ;)

Killing backward the command line does not work, at least here on
MacOS 10.3.9.

Have to redraw manually the display after slang error messages.
Probably because they come now in at least 2 lines:

In slrn: C-x <Esc>
error("hello");

gives something like:

***string***:1:<top-level>:Run-Time Error
hello
