Actually some not very thorough testing reveals that the issue
might have been solved somewhere around slrn-0.9.8.1pl1. But as
it definitely exists (see above) it would be good if others made
sure it is really solved in more recent versions.

I haven't got the time to dig deeper, but perhaps it depends on
S-Lang version, or the use of iconv.
