It works in version pl2, the original article is stored, I tested
this with qp and 8bit iso-8859-1 articles.

That might of course be. Btw, I did a quick'n'dirty test to see how
slrn behaved without iconv by disabling it in the config.h and then
slrn crashed sometimes.

Does it make sense to make iconv a "must" dependency and to remove
all "have no iconv" code?
