No colors, unknown terminal

Hello,

I have broken my S-Lang/Slrn setup -- the usual way: without
knowing what I was doing ;-)

$ slrn --version
slrn pre0.9.9-67

COMPILE TIME OPTIONS:
 Backends: +nntp -slrnpull -spool

 Default server object:     nntp

  minimal_multipart
  usascii_override


Symptoms:

- I suddenly had to use "slrn -C" to have colors.
- In eg. Apple Terminal, I get:
$ slrn
slrn pre0.9.9-67
Unknown terminal: nsterm-16color
Check the TERM environment variable.
Also make sure that the terminal is defined in the terminfo database.
Alternatively, set the TERMCAP environment variable to the desired
termcap entry.
- Same for screen-256color if I start slrn with
$ env TERMCAP= slrn

Both terminfo entries exist and work correctly in with any other
program I am running.

I recompiled S-Lang:
MISC_TERMINFO_DIRS is set correctly to /usr/local/share/terminfo
ncurses5-config is correctly recognized at
/usr/local/bin/ncurses5-config

I'm at a complete loss what could be causing this. I don't
remember having changed anything fundamental in my setup.

If anybody could come up with ideas where to look for mistakes,
what kind of tests to run, or any other advice, I'd be really
grateful.

I can also take this to slang-users-l, if needed.
