Extending slrn's functions in a cross-macro usable way?

I thought about writing a macro that would let you define something like 
frames where sections of the article view would appear to scroll 
independently of the rest of the article.  This way I could see some 
parts of the article (like table headers or article headers) while the 
rest of the article scrolled along normally.

When I considered this more deeply and thought about how many intrinsic
functions I'd have to wrap to make the macro more integrated with slrn I 
thought it was too much work for such a feature.  One of the big 
problems with wrapper functions is that other macros will never use the 
wrapped functions but you need them to let the user use the keys they're 
used to using.

What's the recommended way to deal with this?
