bug: slrn hangs with low mem and invalid locale

Hi,

when I run

% dash -c 'ulimit -v 8912; LANG=C.UTF-8 slrn -h server -f /tmp/bla --create'

I get

slrn hangs here. I have to kill it. Then it prints:

                 slrn: quiting on signal 15.
