My problem happens on linux; I don't run slrn on Windows other than to test builds. I just compiled a pre114 version and see the same behaviour. I did some more testing and I don't think it's an slrn problem - I think the problem is in slrnpull. I just deleted all remnants of the rec.motorcycles.harley newsgroup in my spool and did a fresh pull. Here's the slrnpull log: 07/10/2008 01:07:15 Fetching articles for rec.motorcycles.harley. 07/10/2008 01:07:16 The server may contain as many as 2126027913 articles in this group 07/10/2008 01:07:16 Only examining last 300 articles since this is a new group 07/10/2008 01:07:16 rec.motorcycles.harley: Retrieving articles 2126027840-2126027840. 07/10/2008 01:07:16 rec.motorcycles.harley: No articles in specified range. If I use slrn in --nntp mode, I get the latest article as: Xref: news.motzarella.org rec.motorcycles.harley:5503 Which is nowhere near 2126027840 Now it gets strange. 20 minutes later, I decided to try again, this time with a --debug flag to log the server messages. This time, it worked, and continues to work fine: 07/10/2008 01:27:48 Fetching articles for rec.motorcycles.harley. 07/10/2008 01:27:48 The server may contain as many as 5277 articles in this group 07/10/2008 01:27:48 Only examining last 300 articles since this is a new group 07/10/2008 01:27:48 rec.motorcycles.harley: Retrieving articles 5204-5503. 07/10/2008 01:27:48 rec.motorcycles.harley: 300 articles available. 07/10/2008 01:28:44 rec.motorcycles.harley: 300/300 (0 killed), Time: 00:01:10, BPS: 10193 I'm sure it will stall again. I will post the log next time it happens, hoping to see if news.motzarella.org is a flakey server /rudy ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW!
