Hi all,

the slrn release 0.9.9 still fails on certain groups/postings.

It does happen mainly while retrieving full group listings. Probably the problem is based on missing postings which where canceled or lost otherwise, or causing a server overload that may cause a disconnect.

slrn says:

slrn fatal error:
Server connection to news.nexgo.de lost. Cannot recover.

The server here is news.nexgo.de - a server which has several strange setups. Login is required. The latest problem could be observed within group de.rec.mampf:

Xref: news.arcor.de de.rec.mampf:308926^M

!Closing the server connection.

.jnewsrc tells me:
de.rec.mampf: 1-313396

(debug info: <de.rec.mampf 0000313396 0000306117 y)

slrn suggested:
de.rec.mampf: Read how many? (default: 7280)

debug info:
<211 7280 306117 313396 de.rec.mampf^M
>XOVER 306117-313396

It receives 2554 of 2811 postings and then dies.

It does not see e.g. 307185..307189

Is it the expected behavior to exit slrn when the connection may have dropped?

Thanks,
Martin
