Do you have netiquette_warnings turned off?  If so, then I believe
that the variation of your patch in pre0.9.9p1-20 will address this.

C has its detractors but it is an extremely useful and important
language to know.   It was my second language-- pascal was my first.
I learned C by looking at other's code and then using it to create my
own applications.
