The main reason, why I wrote this patch was to handle pgp/mime,
multipart/alternative and pain^H^H^Hines "multipart" postings.

The basic idea to handle multipart/alternative was to hide the html
part, which will probably be shown in your patched version.

A word to the pros and cons of a SVN integration. Although it is
probably a good "works for me" addition to most of the users, it is
not a clean multipart/mime implementation. When I wrote this patch,
I wanted it to be as minimal invasive to the code as possible. 

A complete multipart/mime might be even impossible to do it in a
clean way based on my patch. As JED once pointed out, he'd prefer to
implement a real multipart/mime parser in slang once he finished
version 1.0. So it is counterproductive to include this patch.

As Christian mentioned my "mailcap" patch, this might perhaps better
suit your problem on displaying different types of attachments.
Again, this is a "works for me patch" and only some parts of rfc1524
are implemented, but it might help especially if you are reading
mailing lists which slrn, where attachments are more common. If
you're interested, just send me a mail.
