Problems Following URLs

Hello list...

Each time I use "U" to follow a URL, I get the message at the bottom
of the screen:

OCCCrashCatcher: Not enabling crash catching since we're connected to
a tty (and thus presumably in gdb)

The browser does come up, but with this mangled URL:

file:///http://blah

Any ideas where my config has gone wrong? TIA...
