slrn not saving posts and replies where specified

I set my ~/.slrnrc file to save posts and replies as follows:

% Filename where articles / email you sent are archived.
% Note: If these are unset, slrn does not keep a copy of outgoing
% messages.
%set save_posts "News/My_Posts"
%set save_replies "News/My_Replies"
set save_posts "/home/holtzm/mail/slrn_posts"
set save_replies "/home/holtzm/mail/slrn_replies"

but it continues to save them in ~/News/My_Posts and ~/News/My_Replies.

Any ideas why?

http://www.foory.de/thw/slrn doesn't show any directory for jaunty or
lucid binaries. Why? Can binaries from intrepid be used on lucid?

I'm running slrn pre1.0.0-11 on Ubuntu 10.04.1
