Thanks, but I'm not looking for why those articles were put together 
into a thread. I'm looking for a data structure that would let me get 
the collection of message-IDs in a thread and understand their 
relationship to each other.

If slrn has already has something like this (perhaps that's where the 
thread display comes from) I don't know how to access it from S-Lang macros.
