Your details are right, but my fault is of a much more general nature.
I'd like to shorten this by presenting you one possible way to use the
mime.sl macros and avoid unnecessary havoc in the key bindings:

setkey article "mime_process_multipart" "\em"
setkey article "mime_browse""\eM"

As a general rule, consider the documentation worth reading and do not
just copy and paste to your configuration files whatever looks promising
at first glance.
