I guess you already know this, but your page does say you want to be
notified if something changes! slrn does support mime, you just add
interpret "mime.sl" to your rc file - gpg signatures are no problem
after that.

FWIW, I sent two bug reports to jed recently (January), and he fixed
them immediately in git. I think it's considered feature complete, but
still actively maintained.

(The bugs were that the %? syntax in art_status_line didn't work
properly, and that article_as_string() crashes on error, instead of
raising an exception)
