it depends on what you want.  if you want to interoperate with a bunch of
clients or services that have support for the (aging) blogger and
metaweblog APIs, you need support for them.

if you want to 'look forward', you'll probably want to do what people have
suggested and just go for Atom.

personally i think i'd roll toward atom rather than 'looking back' to
blogger v1 api and metaweblog.
