Forwarding to the FOAF list [original post below]. I'm sure I've heard
mention of auto-geo-locating blogs in those parts, and the subject of
topics is never far away.
However the data was obtained, a first guess at the feed might be:
(xmlns:geo="http://www.w3.org/2003/01/geo/wgs84_pos#")
<channel rdf:about="http://example.org/blah">
<dc:subject>Cat Photos</dc:subject>
<foaf:maker>
<foaf:Person>
<foaf:name>Joe</foaf:name>
<geo:Point>
<geo:lat>55.701</geo:lat>
<geo:long>12.552</geo:long>
</geo:Point>
...
The RSS feed is the obvious place for topic etc, though I reckon other
places like the blogger's FOAF profile could be useful, as are

Subject: [RSS-DEV] Category and Country of an RSS feed

Are there any ways, reliable or less so, to determine the category or topic
of a certain blog? I note for example that Syndic8 takes a stab at this but
I have no idea where the info comes from or how universally it is actually
captured. Are there any sources, web based directories or whatever, for this
kind of information?
Also, and I think this is easier: How about determining the country the blog
originates from. I know that's a fuzzy topic, as I can write from my blog
from wherever I am. But by what country does the author of the blog want to
be known? The language doesn't help me that much because many/most of them
are in English.
In both cases I am looking for info that could be queryable via XML-RPC or
SOAP or something like that.
Thanks,
Pito Salas
