Where will RSS 1.0 be in three years time?

Apologies for posting a question of this nature, shortly after joining
the list. I will just have to hope that it is taken in the spirit of
enquiry that it was intended.

As some of you know, Danny Ayers and I are currently writing/finishing
writing Beginning RSS and Atom Programming. I look at RSS 1.0 and ask
myself "Where is RSS 1.0 going?". And I don't have a clear answer in
my own mind. [I haven't asked Danny for his $0.02 on this. I thought
it would be interesting to get a range of views.]

Assuming that information feeds become even more prevalent, that IETF
Atom is finished and is broadly accepted/used, what will the future
role of RSS 1.0 be, in your expectation? I picked the three year
figure in a fairly arbitrary way. Far enough away to need a little
strategic thinking, not so far away as to be totally unimaginable.

Do you see a use case or killer app that will make RSS 1.0 fly?
