Role of RSS-DEV ,a Simple Perspective

Dear Group,
 
As an outsider looking in the dynamics of this group I felt compelled to refresh the air a bit and simply state that this group has a role in the development of the internet that has far reaching impacts. It impacts countries, economies, business models and in general many levels of work efforts made by others. Your efforts are very much appreciated but certainly no one expects any one of you to over extend yourself to an unfair level of committment. But I know from my own experience I need to find a way to get an objective look at matters once in a while.  Perhaps the following link will not achieve this but it occurred to me, what could it hurt to try and remind you all of the invaluable contributions that you have been making for so long.  I only wish I knew half as much as any one of you do in the development of RSS and related technologies.  I hope you take my comments in this spirit, a spirit of admiration.
 
I came across this the other day and read through it. The whole government of New Zealand is using your work to better their government and to inform their people of important matters and information.  And the good news is, they are satified with the results they are getting.

I hope there is a common consensus on the new RSS1.1 spec. very soon.
 
My own questions are centered around compatibility with frameworks like Redland, RDF parsers like Raptor and other RDF frameworks, not XML based tools. Does the RSS 1.1 proposed spec IMPROVE the RDF model? Does it make a more complete RDF model?
 
Mark Knottingham has a wonderful parser RSS.py on his web site www.mnot.net  and a RSS tutorial  http://www.mnot.net/rss/tutorial/  and with several useful links. Why I mention this is I have noticed his RSS.py code has been used by several developers.  Perhaps this group knows him and can notify him of this new proposed specification and feedback. His RSS.py reads all RSS and returns RSS 1.0 if I understand his module correctly.  Perhaps this can be a solution for some as well.
