A proposal: reformulation of RSS 1.0 as an RSS 2.0 extension

Since the great fork, it looks like RSS 2.0 has gotten more support.
Now, companies like Microsoft are doing dumb things like trying to add
lists to RSS 2.0 when they already exist in RSS 1.0. In the interest
of getting everyone to work together, should there be some
considerations as to how increasing interop between the two formats
and looking at what works with both?

To that extent, I'd like to know if anyone might be interested in
doing a side by side analysis and reformulate the missing parts
(meaning what's good in RSS 1.0 that's not in RSS 2.0) as an extension
set with its own namespace (rss1compatibility.dtd?) ?

I'm trying to get some similar traction on merging the media RSS
format (from Yahoo) and Apple. See
http://www.tnl.net/blog/entry/RSS_and_Media:_Can't_we_all_just_get_along?
for more details on that one.
